Being In Accordance with the Responsible Use Principles
These Principles are purely voluntary with no implied requirements. Users interested in applying this program to its maximum effectiveness can complete every applicable practice in a holistic manner. Once all practices are completed the user can assert to being ‘In Accordance’ with the Responsible Use: Forest Biotechnology Principles. To promote confidence in the thorough application of these Principles among biotech tree users, the IFB encourages all users to be In Accordance and follow as many recommendations as possible.
Another option, that is available to Forest Biotechnology Partners, is to have the IFB review their completion of each practice. Once the IFB is satisfied that the actions fulfill the requirements of being In Accordance, that responsible use of biotech trees will be added to the list of those In Accordance below. Other benefits include:
Assurance that the IFB has reviewed this use of biotech trees and finds them responsible, and fulfilling all of the requirements of being In Accordance.
Visibility for achieving the highest level of stewardship for biotech tree use by being listed on this website with other high-performing peers.
Maintaining all material the user wishes to place online for stakeholder reference and dialogue opportunities.
Assistance with applying the principles to specific, responsible, uses of biotech trees.
Determinations for unique situations where the Principles require interpretation.
The opportunity to work directly with other Partners and the IFB to improve the Responsible Use Principles.
Whether a user chooses to self-assert to being In Accordance, or through the Forest Biotechnology Partnership and the IFB's one-on-one guidance and review, all applicable documentation should be kept to verify their assertion of being In Accordance and make as much of it available to stakeholders as possible.
